Jane Yu, I totally understand your point, but the surface from where I stand is observatory, and since a sizeable number of designers want to create in this style (which they would no matter what you try to do), it works best to actively encourage best practices to them.

Push them to make it accessible, or lead them with better designs that are accessible to users.
